🏡 Case Study: Conversion
📍 Ocean Road, South Shields
This proposal outlines the conversion of an existing building into a high-quality residential co-living scheme, while retaining the commercial unit at ground floor level. The development includes a new mansard roof extension to add a third floor, and a modern stair/lift core on the western elevation, replacing the outdated glazed stairwell.
The scheme provides 42 self-contained studio apartments, including communal facilities in the basement and on each floor. The layout includes 6 studios at ground level, 13 on both the first and second floors, and 10 on the third floor. This project delivers modern, efficient co-living spaces within a mixed-use building, promoting sustainable urban living.
